Isabelle just received the hamper she won with menu for hope!

Just to let you know that I received your wonderful San Lorenzo hamper
today. Oh my goodness, how beautiful… it’s like Christmas all over
again. This evening I was going to make some soup but now I will make
some linguine with an anchovy sauce delicately flavoured with a bit of
garlic and some scaglie di parmiggiano on top. And a drizzle of olive
oil, obviously. I also can’t wait to try the chestnut honey, I like it
a lot and I used to eat a lot of it when I lived in Rome but it’s
rather hard to find in England.

In a sunny, warm and almost summer London, Thursday night took place the first San Lorenzo Presents: tasting, followed by a dinner, of San Lorenzo’s products. The night was focused on rice and two of the best Piedmont wines, Barolo and Barbaresco.

The crowd we were able to assemble was quite heterogeneous: from the founder of the Girl Geek Dinners, Sarah Blow, to her Italian counterpart, Amanda Lorenzani; from Steve Lamb to one of the two Trusted Places founders, Walid Al Saqqaf, to restaurant critic Andy Hayler; from 4 of the major Uk food bloggers, The Passionate Cook, Cook Sister, Londonelicious (her report!) and Aidan the Trainee Chef (his report!), to other bloggers, like Bru (who wrote something about it even on Trusped Places Blog); from one of the top Flickr contributors, Mernas, to a chef, Celia Brooks Brown… And some others, like some wonderful Irish people, Aoife and Dermott, like Emma, Trusted Places newsletter editor, like some Italian friends…

The products that most interested everybody was, of course, Venere rice! It’s black, it’s fragrant, it’s different! Check it out!

The wines were, as usually, a huge success! They are so good that you can’t help it: you’re gonna love them!

Here in London is a gorgeous day! Sunny, warm, so warm I’m writing this from a coffee place just outside the British Museum, seating outside (something I’ve never imagined even in my wildest dream! I’m even sleeveless!!!).

Why am I here? Two main reasons:

- Yesterday night I attended to the 15th Girl Geek Dinner, organizied by Sarah Blow and Nicole Mathison, two wonderful and nice ladies I was so pleased to see again! And they love San Lorenzo’s wines! In fact we gave away few bottles of our best wines, and some ended up in the ends of two gorgeous peopla, as Walid, from Trusted Places, a trusted friend of San Lorenzo, running many competitions with us, and Maz Hardey, a social scientist from York, writing a PhD thesis about digital social networking… The night was amazing, as usually!

- On the 13th we are gonna start tasting nights in London! Tomorrow will be the big day! So be ready for a full report!

From your beloved blogger, live from one of the most amazing city in the world (and I’m not saying that just to make you envy me, no no! ;-D), going to have a tandoori somewhere… Or dim sum… Or thai, why not?

It was almost a month of silence, due to server changing, but even to major news that will be delivered to our food enthusiasts readers very soon!
Right now just to let you know that if you would like to win a fabulous and luxury San Lorenzo’s hamper, you can go on one of my favourite London based blog, and enter the competition in joint venture with TrustedPlaces!

But why am I packing again?
Because down here in Italy we are joining together for the second appointment of Il Vino Lo Portiamo Noi” (we bring the wine!)! This time we are heading to the Marche region, near Fano, at the Symposium restaurant in Cartoceto! And we are ready to eat some wonderfully cooked innards, like bull balls and tripe! A challenge? Maybe… Something that it’s difficult to see in a starred Michelin restaurant? Well, that’s for sure, or at least as far as Cartoceto is from Lyon!
While we wait to tell you all about this time, here you can see the pictures of last time! We sure had fan! And we sure enjoyed all the San Lorenzo’s wines!

The idea of Blog Tastings is that San-lorenzo.com would like to take part in the bloggers’ meetings that are springing up all over Europe.

How will we join in?
Well, by sending some of the products we sell to anyone who’s interested, because we believe that they really are good.

In exchange for what? Nothing.
We just want to do our part to multiply the opportunities for bloggers and web enthusiasts (just like us) to meet, chat, and exchange opinions.

Does it apply only to foodbloggers? No.
It applies to all blog-meetings, provided that they have a point, a subject.
Just to be clear: Hey, this evening I am going out for dinner with a girl who writes a blog, please, send me the products ⇒ No chance!
On the other hand: Hey, on X day there’ll be 3 of us meeting up (or 30, or 3000) to set up an online radio, or to talk about web 2.0, to deepen our knowledge about the life-cycle of the carrot ⇒ OK, yes, this is ok!

What to do to receive SL products?

We’ve just announced Turin, and here we are straight away with Rome: Il cavoletto di bruxelles and Il cuore è una frattaglia at the Blog Tasting in Rome on 12 April. Highlight of the evening will be a remarkably good (so they tell me) pizza at Sforno. San-lorenzo.com will be taking part - alas – remotely, by sending a few tasty treats…

There’s no point in hiding it, ‘cos I know: here and there bloggers are organising meetings, dinners, drinks and nibbles, tasting sessions… Like the one next Saturday when a select group of foodbloggers from Turin are getting together at the restaurant ‘l Birichin in Turin. They’ll be meeting up for a beer-tasting session Un Tocco di Zenzero, La cuoca petulante, Delicious e Tirebouchon. I won’t be able to make it, but I thought I’d send a few San Lorenzo products to try as pairings (not easy, you might find a few hints here) with the beers they’ll be tasting (we hope they’ll tell us how it went).

All this is to say: if you’re planning blog-dinners, blog-drinks, blog tasting sessions or blog-meetings, please sign up on the wiki or drop me a line beforehand with the date, theme, address etc., and I’ll be pleased to send you a few San Lorenzo products.
